Saint Lucia’s most prominent sports personalities were honoured for their achievements over the weekend during the 2025 season on a night of pomp and circumstance at the 44th National Sports Awards Ceremony.
Among the recipients was Saint Lucian sprint queen and Olympic gold medallist Julien Alfred, who again secured the Sportswoman of the Year title, following another historic season. In 2025, she became Saint Lucia’s first medalist at the World Athletics Championships, capturing bronze in the women’s 100m.

Ackeem Auguste’s exploits in cricket saw him rise to Sportsman of the Year. Auguste’s ascent to prominence in 2025 included a mammoth double century for Saint Lucia in the final of the Windward Islands tournament.
In the junior categories, swimmer Antoine Destang claimed the male title after contributing to several record-breaking feats, including seven Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States records and four national records.
The Junior Sportswoman of the Year was sprint sensation Jady Emmanuel, who made history by becoming Saint Lucia’s first-ever sprint titlist at the CARIFTA Games, winning gold in both the 100-metre and 200-metre dashes.
Sports Minister Kenson Casimir, in his address to the gathering at the Royalton Hotel on February 14, called 2025 a truly outstanding year for Saint Lucia.
“Our athletes have continued to demonstrate that regardless of our size as a nation, our talent, ambition, and determination place us firmly on the global stage,” he said.
