Antigua and Barbuda’s All Saints United FC was eliminated from the ongoing Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield despite going unbeaten in both of their Group C matches at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Trinidad.
United and Suriname’s SV Transvaal played to a scoreless draw on Tuesday as both teams moved to four points after their two matches with United in third on a positive two-goal difference and Transvaal in second on a positive three-goal difference.
Weymouth Wales FC out of Barbados finished at the top of the standings with a perfect six points from their two showings.
The other three teams in Group C: Trinidad’s Police FC (3 points), St Maarten’s SCSA Eagles (0 points), and BVI’s Wolues FC (0 points) were also eliminated from Group C.
The top teams from the four groups will advance to the semifinals slated for August 1 with the final and third place matches scheduled for August 3.
On Sunday, All Saints United opened their Group C campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over St Maarten’s SCSA Eagles at the same venue. They had goals from Kenduka Challenger in the ninth minute, Tiquan Isaac in the 17th and Raheem Deterville in the 45th minute.
All Saints United qualified for the CFU tournament, having won the 2023/24 Premier Division title on goal difference over Grenades FC who finished as runners-up in last year’s CFU tournament after having won the 2022/23 Premier Division title.
