ALLY MCCOIST has admitted it is difficult for him to do his job now amid Rangers’ ongoing struggles.
The Ibrox hero was in the commentary booth for the defeat to Brann in the Europa League last night.
McCoist remarked that he felt “as depressed as I’ve been” watching the 3-0 loss.
The 63-year-old says that seeing his old team drop deeper and deeper into the mire is making it hard for him to be as honest as the fans want.
That’s because he has to be brutal in his assessments of the performances and the players.
He said the squad is full of BANG AVERAGE players and that on the park, the team looks like “lost wee boys”.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “It’s really difficult to commentate on the games now.
“You’ve got to be brutally honest, and I watch Rangers just now and it’s a group of wee boys.
“They look lost, with no real direction or level of commitment to match the opposition.
“The fans deserve a level of commitment to go and run and play for the jersey.
“It’s really worrying, because I think in the short time Danny Rohl has been here he’s conducted himself well and sounds good in his interviews but I tell you, I feel for him.
“I don’t know what he’s going to do.
“The team is full of bang average players from all over.
“There has to be a rethink.”
Despite finishing trophyless again last season and 15 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, the former Gers striker believes the playing squad has gone BACKWARDS.
“The team wasn’t great last year but it’s actually gone back the way after spending £25milion or whatever it is.
“It’s really concerning.
“The recruitment has been hopeless, you could sit here and name individuals but collectively, the recruitment for years has been shocking.
“You look at the boys they got rid of during the summer. Cyriel Dessers wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea but he got 20 goals.
“You got rid of Vaclav Cerny and Hamza Igamane, who scored two last night for Lille.
“You’ve lost the best part of 65 goals out of your team and absolutely not replaced them.

“You brought a big young lad in who, God help him I hope he goes on to score 100 goals for Rangers but he just looks miles off it. It’s a shame for him.
“He played 300 minutes in two years at Everton and you pay £8.5million for him? Holy moly guacamole!”
