Antigua and Barbuda emerged winners of the Leeward Islands Masters T20 Tournament held in St Maarten over the weekend, comfortably winning Sunday’s final by 72 runs over Nevis.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, Antigua and Barbuda posted 226 for one in their 20 overs with Kerry Mentore getting a mammoth 137 not out. Tris Phillip added 86 to the Antigua and Barbuda total.


When their turn at the crease arrived, Nevis could only reach 154 for four in their 20 overs with former West Indies opener, Stuart Williams, hitting a top score of 37. James Cornelius and Stephan Matthew both claimed one wicket for Antigua and Barbuda.
Mentore, who was also adjudged MVP of the tournament, was the top runs scorer, having amassed a total of 190 runs with Nevis’ Williams second with 133. Antigua and Barbuda’s Phillip was third with 125 runs.
Chaka Hodge (Anguilla), Calvin Williams (St Kitts), Patrick Newton (Nevis) and Howard Gerrard all claimed four wickets each during the tournament.
