Antigua and Barbuda’s senior women’s netball team suffered a second straight loss in the ongoing ECCB-sponsored OECS International Netball Series in Grenada when, on Wednesday, they were beaten 63-36 by hosts Grenada.
Playing at the Tanteen Netball Complex in the capital of St George’s, Antigua and Barbuda fell behind at 17-7 at the end of the first quarter. Grenada pulled further ahead in the second quarter to lead the contest 37-17 at the half. The home team continued to dominate the contest and built a 51-24 lead by the end of the third quarter before going on to claim the contest.
Wednesday night’s defeat comes on the heels of a 45-33 loss to St Lucia the previous day. St Lucia held a slim 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before going on to hold an 18-14 lead at the half. Antigua and Barbuda fell further behind at the end of the third quarter with St Lucia leading 32-25 before claiming victory.
Antigua and Barbuda had won their first three matches in the tournament with their latest victory coming via a dominant 60-10 display against Guyana on Tuesday morning. On Monday, Antigua and Barbuda enjoyed a comfortable 53-14 triumph over Montserrat, their second straight of the tournament before rallying to a compelling 63-17 triumph over Anguilla at the same venue on the tournament’s opening day.
