Antigua and Barbuda rounded off their participation at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore with a personal best from Naeem De Souza and a season best from Stefano Mitchell over the weekend.
Swimming in the Men’s 100 meters Butterfly, De Souza clocked 1:00.16 to finish seventh in Heat 1 of the event. Despite the personal achievement, the effort did not qualify the Antiguan for the next round of the competition.
Meanwhile, Mitchell swam a season best of 23.18 seconds in Heat 8 of the Men’s 50 meters freestyle. He did not advance to the next round of the event. Also, on the weekend, Aungelique Liddie clocked 59.98 seconds to finish ninth in Heat 5 of the Women’s 100 meters Freestyle as she bowed out of the event.
Earlier in the championships, De Souza registered a personal best of 26.52 in the Men’s 50 Meters Butterfly, Bianca Mitchell registered a time of 2:11.40 to finish fourth in her heat of the Women’s 200 meters Freestyle, while Stefano Mitchell registered a season best of 51.23 seconds in the 100 meters freestyle. The team was coach by Wayne Mitchell.
