Antigua and Barbuda’s Stuti Kashyap, was beaten 4-0 by Chile’s world-ranked Daniela Ortega earlier this week as she exited the Senior ITTF Pan American Championships being held in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
The 16-year-old, playing in the round of 32, was outplayed by the more experienced Ortega who is the reigning South American Champion with four golds to her name this year. Earlier, Kashyap delivered a commanding 4-0 win over Argentina’s Valentina Parola, a strong senior player seven years the Antiguan’s senior.
This was Antigua and Barbuda’s best-ever showing at a senior continental championship, following Kashyap’s recent bronze medal at the ITTF Americas Youth Championships and silver in U19 Mixed Doubles at the WTT Youth Contender San Francisco.
“We’re not just competing — we’re progressing,” said ABTTA President Charles “Chucky” Bellot. “This experience is a step forward in our long-term vision for international excellence.”
