The flag of Antigua and Barbuda flew proudly at the Pan American ArmWrestling Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after Daniel Antonio captured gold in the Left Arm Youth 90KG+ category.
The former Antigua Grammar School student delivered an outstanding performance to claim the top prize for the twin island nation.
Antonio defeated a competitive field that included Santiago Carvajal Córdoba of Costa Rica, who finished second, and Argentina’s Matias Herrera, who took third place. The victory adds to Antigua and Barbuda’s growing reputation in international Armwrestling competition.
At the time of reporting, Antonio was preparing to compete in the Right Arm Youth 90KG+ category, looking to add another medal to his impressive haul at the championships.
The young armwrestler has been building momentum on the international stage. In 2023, he claimed first place in the beginner category in Spain and demonstrated his potential by placing fifth against world champions in the 100KG Seniors Category – a remarkable achievement that highlighted his rapid development in the sport.
