A REFEREE has been “suspended” by the Argentinian FA after sending off the son of the organisation’s President.
During a hotly contested clash between Barracas Central and Boca Juniors, match official Nicolás Lamolina sparked controversy with a number of decisions made during the game as it played out on Monday.

But the main talking point was a 14th minute red card handed out to Iván Tapia.
Tapia, 26, was deemed to have committed a second yellow card offence when he wildly swung a leg towards Leandro Paredes.
The sending off had come after Lamolina opted against red cards for challenges made by Barracas players Rafael Barrios and Javier Ruiz – which were checked by VAR official Silvio Trucco.
Boca went on to win the game 3-1 after going a goal behind in the 20th minute.

However, two days after the incident, it was revealed Lamolina would not officiate any games in the following matchweek.
Argentine outlet Clarín claimed that the referee had been suspended due to the errors he committed in the game.
Lamolina, 42, was not assigned a match in the following gameweek by Federico Beligoy, the National Director of Refereeing at the AFA.
The AFA have not publicly handed out any further punishment.
