THE Czech Republic were condemned to one of the worst defeats in their history last night.
And frustrations boiled over in the aftermath as former Rangers star Vaclav Cerny dramatically STORMED OUT of a live TV interview.
Czech hopes of qualifying for the World Cup automatically suffered a seismic blow after a disappointing international break that saw them take just one point from a possible six.
Having been held by Croatia in Prague last week, they’d have been expected to get past the Faroe Islands when they headed to Torshavn last night.
Instead, they fell to a shock 2-1 defeat that leaves hopes of finishing top of the group and punching a ticket to North America hanging by a thread.
A win over the Faroes would’ve seen the Czechs and Croatia level on 16 points at the top of Group L.

Instead, Croatia now have a three-point lead, a goal difference 15 better off and a game in hand over the Czech side.
It means Croatia need just a point from their final two games against the Faroe Islands and Montenegro to secure their berth at the World Cup.
While it’s extremely unlikely they’ll be able to qualify, the Faroe Islands have enjoyed a superb World Cup qualifying campaign.
Punching well above their weight, they’ve taken 12 points from their seven matches and could still mathematically finish second.
With the Czech Republic facing Gibraltar – who have zero points – in their final game, it’s unlikely the Faroes will be able to overtake them.
Nonetheless, there’s been a major Czech inquest after last night’s disastrous result.
Rangers hero Vaclav Cerny started in Torshavin, playing 87 minutes of night he and the rest of the Czech players will want to forget.
Tensions were understandably high post-match and that was clear as Cerny – now of Besiktas in Turkey – conducted a TV interview.
The winger’s role in the Faroe Islands’ opening goal was called out by the interviewer, much to Cerny’s surprise and apparent anger.
The 27-year old, who was on loan at Ibrox last season, could be seen at the edge of the box as the Faroes’ Hanus Sorensen charged in to fire the ball into the net.
The TV interviewer clearly felt that Cerny was at fault for not tracking the goalscorer into the box.
That clearly took the ex-Gers man by surprise, as he could be seen widening his eyes and raising his eyebrows as he was asked about his role in the goal.
He snapped back at the question: “How was I at his side?”
Clearly unimpressed, Cerny then continued to answer the question but his annoyance was clear.
Stopping for a few brief pauses in his answer, he then dramatically STORMED OUT live on TV.
Cerny began to explain: “I think I ran back like everyone else and… you definitely evaluate it somehow. Let’s just put it on me.”
He then abruptly ended the interview and walked off.
The spiky moment caught the attention of Czech fans who reacted on social media.
One blasted: “Vaclav Cerny has just ended his international career!”
A second fumed: “The fact Vaclav Cerny gets offended when a reporter tells him the truth is laughable. Do we expect to be praised for everything?
“Where is the self reflection?”
A third added: “He should be ashamed.”

Some fans defended Cerny, with another pinning the blame on Czech coach Ivan Hasek.
One supporter said: “I would be p***** off too, playing what the coach wants from me and then being made to look like an idiot.”
