By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 🇧🇿 Belize’s U23 Men’s National Volleyball Team closed out group play at the 2025 NORCECA U23 Men’s Pan American Cup with a loss to 🇺🇸 the United States at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
USA defeated Belize 3–0
Final set scores: 26–24, 25–16, 25-12
With the win, the United States secured second place in Pool B with a 2–1 record, advancing to the quarterfinals where they’ll face the third-place team from Pool A. Unbeaten 🇩🇴 Dominican Republic (3–0) advance directly to the semifinals. 🇲🇽 Mexico (1–2) finished third and also move on to the quarterfinals, where they’ll meet Pool A’s second-place team.
🇧🇿 Belize, finishing last in Pool B with a 0–3 record, will enter the classification round for 5th–8th place. On Saturday, August 2, they’ll face one of the quarterfinal losers. Should Belize win, they’ll play for 5th place on Sunday, August 3. If they lose, they’ll contest the 7th place match, also scheduled for Sunday, August 3.
Despite the straight-set loss, Belize pushed back with spirit in the opening frame and continued fighting in key rallies. Standout performances from captain Kaelen Ingram and opposite hitter Eleazar Mejia highlighted the team’s potential and resilience.
This marks Belize’s third defeat in pool play, following Wednesday’s result against the Dominican Republic:

Earlier on Thursday, Dominican Republic secured their semifinal berth with a dramatic five-set thriller against Mexico: 22–25, 25–23, 27–25, 22–25, 15–12.

Belize will now regroup and prepare for the 5th-8th place classification matches Saturday and Sunday.
