The League, Teams, and Format
The Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL) debuts with seven teams spanning five districts, promising a dynamic and competitive tournament. The league is split into two conferences:
- Toucan Conference (North-South): San Pedro Tiger Sharks, EZ Investment Dangriga Dream Ballers, Punta Gorda Panthers, and Corozal Cerros Suns.
- Mayan Conference (East-West): Cayo Western Ballaz, Belize City Thunderbolts, and Belmopan Capital City Kings.
Each team comprises 12 players, with roster regulations ensuring a strong local presence. The league mandates that ten players must be Belizean-born, one may be a foreign-born Belizean, and one can be a total foreigner. To foster youth development, at least one of the Belizean-born players must be under 21, providing a stage for emerging talent.
