By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize is set to host the 2025 Copa Los Volcanes Golf Tournament, welcoming elite amateur golfers from across Central America from June 18 to June 22 at the Roaring River Golf Course in Red Creek, Cayo.
Now in its sixth edition, the event will see competitors from Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama battling it out in a five-day championship played over 72 holes in four-ball and singles stroke play formats.
Belize Golf Association (BGA) President Saul Barrera expressed excitement for the tournament.
“We expect a high level of competition,” Belize Golf Association (BGA) President Saul Barrera said in a press release.
“Players from across the region as well as our local players will compete in a fiercely competitive five-day tournament, and I am sure the excitement will be great.”
Event host Pedro Lizarraga also highlighted the tournament’s significance.
“Copa Los Volcanes not only raises the bar for golf in Belize and the rest of the region, it opens the doors for athletes from all walks of life to participate in something fun, fulfilling, and exciting. We at Roaring River welcome everyone to witness this spectacular event,” Lizarraga said.
Originally launched in Costa Rica in 2018, the tournament continues to promote and elevate golf in the region, attracting top amateur talent annually.
