By Aaron Humes: The Belize Men’s National Volleyball Team won its opening match of the AFECAVOL Men’s Final Four tournament on Friday in El Salvador.
Belize defeated hosts El Salvador 3 sets to 1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19) on opening night in San Salvador after Guatemala took down Nicaragua in five sets in the opener.
Belize meets Guatemala today at 4:30 pm followed by Nicaragua on Sunday.
This is Belize’s first win in this tournament as in the inaugural affair last year they failed to win a match. Belize is the proverbial team on the rise in the region with medals in the junior forms of the discipline over the last year.
