The ABSCA T20 competition witnessed two thrilling encounters at Powells this week, with Bullets and 300 registering victories in the new competition on Sunday and Wednesday, respectively.
The encounter on Wednesday proved to be a complete mismatch, with the Bullets delivering an absolute one-sided contest. Batting first, they amassed a mammoth 283 for seven in their 20 overs, built around an extraordinary innings from Deran Benta.

Benta’s unbeaten 174 was a masterclass in aggressive batting, featuring an incredible 22 sixes and four fours. His innings was well supported by Wilson Charles (33) and George Elvin (25), but this was undoubtedly Benta’s show. Almond Peters was the most successful bowler for Mix Up Stars, taking three for 28.
The Mix Up Stars’ response was nothing short of disastrous, as they were skittled out for just 31 runs in seven overs, resulting in a crushing 252-run defeat. Benta completed a remarkable all-round performance, taking six wickets for six runs.
On Sunday, 300 posted a competitive total of 141 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. Kennedy Tonge led the charge with a solid 39 runs, well supported by Justin Periera (26), Veston Lewis (23), and Richard Dyer (22). The Bullets’ bowling attack was spearheaded by Benta, who claimed two for 19.

The Bullets’ chase got off to a shaky start, but a magnificent knock from Benta (47 runs off seven sixes) nearly single-handedly kept them in contention. Andra Samuel contributed 21 runs, and Vernon Samuel added 13, but the team ultimately fell short, bowled out for 123 in 19.3 overs.
Dwayne George was the pick of the 300’s bowlers with outstanding figures of four wickets for just eight runs in 3.3 overs, supported by Vernel Isadore (2/11),Tonge (2/23), and Periera (2/48).
