LUDLOW races has been hit by huge delays – with the final contest on the card being abandoned with the ‘track more like ice skating’.
An initial inspection into the state of the turf was passed – but another area then needed to be looked at.

It meant a big delay to the 3.37 contest, even though the ground was officially described as ‘good’.
Angus McNae said on Racing TV the situation – and the lack of an update – was ‘simply not good enough’.
While another labelled it ’embarrassing’ and one pundit said it was ‘amateur hour’.
Once it was confirmed racing would indeed carry on, the 3.37 race over hurdles eventually got underway at 4.00.
But the final contest on the card, an amateur jockeys’ handicap chase with four runners over 2m4f due for 4.37, has been canned.
It means the day will end with a Class 5 hurdles contest which was meant to be off at 4.07 but will be pushed right back.
A BHA Stewards’ comment on X read: “Following a further inspection after Race 4 @LudlowRaceClub, the decision has been made to abandon Race 7 due to slipping on the chase course.”
More to follow.
