Triathlon Grenada departed Grenada on Thursday, 21 August, for Trinidad & Tobago to compete in the CARIFTA Triathlon, Aquathlon & Mixed Relay Championships, which will be held in Courland Bay Heritage Park, Tobago, on 23 and 24 August.
The CARIFTA Triathlon Committee is proud to announce a significant milestone in the growth and development of triathlon in the Caribbean: the official transition of the CARIFTA Triathlon Championships to a World Triathlon Regional Championships for U23 athletes.
Now entering its 7th year, the CARIFTA Triathlon Championships has grown to attract over 200 young athletes from across the Caribbean. This new designation as a Regional Championships reflects both the maturity of the event and the collective ambition of regional stakeholders to produce elite triathletes and a high level of competition and development among Caribbean nations. The 2025 event, now being referred to as the World Triathlon CARIFTA Regional Championships, will include athletes from 13 territories: Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St Kitts & Nevis, and Trinidad & Tobago. These countries have already confirmed participation and met registration deadlines, forming the foundation of what is expected to be a growing and unifying regional triathlon movement.
Last year, we had an 8-member team and we secured 1 Gold by Coby Sylvester in the Triathlon Event and 2 Silver by Nina James in the Triathlon and Aquathlon events.
