BRIGHTON have offered Carl Rushworth an extended new deal at the club.
That’s amid reports that Rangers are keen to bring the talented goalkeeper north to Glasgow on a loan deal to battle it out for top spot with Jack Butland.
The former England Under-21 goalkeeper, 24, has two years remaining on his current deal on the South Coast.
But with Bart Verbruggen an outstanding No 1 and Jason Steele as an experienced No 2, Rushworth could be sent out for his FIFTH loan.
Rangers are keen to take him on loan for the season – alongside interest from the Championship.
But now the Athletic reports that Brighton want to safeguard their asset by snapping him up for the long term.

He’s currently under contract until 2027 and had four separate loan spells to date at Walsall, Lincoln, Swansea City and Hully City.

Both men are likely to get chances to impress new boss Russell Martin, who is renowned for his passing style from the back.
Butland too has two years remaining on his current Ibrox deal, having had many highpoints during his time at the club as well as some indifferent displays.
Youngsters Mason Munn and Rydynn McGuire are highly rated for the future.
