Cayman’s amateur boxers delivered a stellar performance on home turf at the ‘Clash of 3 Fight Night’ held on 22 Nov. at the D. Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gymnasium.
The fighters faced opponents from Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, with the Cayman contingent emerging victorious in five of the seven bouts featured on the card.

One of the highlights of the night was the explosive victory by Briana Kerr, who secured the event’s only technical knockout with a first-round stoppage win over her Jamaican opponent Zoe Richards in the event’s opening bout.
Completing the roster of Caymanian boxers were Matthew Thompson, Javon Williams, Antonio Cohen, Jalon Hobson, Phillip Livingston and Damar Robinson.
The remaining four wins of the Cayman fighters were secured “by decision”, having gone the full scheduled distance and been scored by the ringside judges.
Thompson, who ended the night’s action, maintained his perfect amateur record, moving to 5-0 after his bout against Trinidad’s Charles Med.
Other Cayman winners included Cohen and Hobson, who both defeated their Jamaican opponents, Alvan Wright and Chrishaun McPherson, respectively.
Livingston also won his match against Kozo Martin of Trinidad and Tobago.
Cayman recorded two losses, with Williams beaten by Demarco Smith of Jamaica and Robinson defeated by Makieve Bellille of Trinidad and Tobago.
Alva Suckoo, president of the Elite Boxing Federation, hailed the night as a “tremendous success”, emphasising the value of the international competition for the local athletes.
“Every one of our boxers, I think, went up a level,” Suckoo stated. “There were no disappointing fights, even the ones that we lost. They fought hard.
“You can see the training [and] the hard work that is going into it, so I was pleased overall, especially pleased that we could bring Jamaica and Trinidad here to up the level of competition for our local boxers and give them that experience that they need.”
