The 2026 golfing calendar is off to a fast start as Cayman’s golfers take to the world stage and prepare for regional competition.
Justin Hastings began a new chapter of his career on the Korn Ferry Tour in The Bahamas Golf Classic at Atlantis Paradise Island, held from 11-14 Jan. at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island.
Hastings finished tied for 33rd, earning $5,950 after carding a 16-under-par total of 272 with consistent rounds of 67, 68, 69, and 68.
Latin American Amateur Championship
The 11th edition of the Latin American Amateur Championship is currently underway until 18 Jan. at the Lima Golf Club in Peru.
Although the Cayman Islands holds the title through defending champion Justin Hastings, his move to the professional ranks means a new champion will be crowned this year.
In his absence, the Caymanian flag will be flown by former champion Aaron Jarvis and his brother Andrew Jarvis who is also no stranger to this event.
“Both players come into the event having had plenty of preparation and local competitive action under their belts and will be aiming for a good showing,” said Daniel Fortune, president of the Cayman Islands Golf Association.
After the second round on Friday, Aaron made the cut and was tied for 28th place going into Saturday’s action. Andrew failed to make the cut.

The local schedule intensifies on 31 Jan. with the qualifier for the Caribbean Classic at the North Sound Golf Club, followed by the President’s Trophy on 28 Feb.
Ladies golf team
The Cayman ladies’ team – Claire Mocock, Stella Noyons, Michelle Veldhoven, Catherine Guilbard and Sheena Conolly – will prepare for a critical title defence in the Dominican Republic.

Following their historic victory in 2025, the team will return to the Casa de Campo resort from 28 April to 2 May to compete in the Caribbean Classic.
The quarter concludes with the Cayman Islands Amateur Championship on from 21-22 March.
“We are looking forward to another exciting year of golf both in Cayman and for our top players abroad. Our players always represent Cayman fantastically on the international scene and we hope to see that again this year. We are also working on further ways to grow and develop the game locally,” said Fortune.
