Calum MacGeoch has joined the coaching team at Cayman Sports Ltd., bringing a wealth of international experience, including the highest level of US collegiate competition.
MacGeoch, who has been on-island coaching tennis and pickleball with Cayman Sports since 8 Sept., is already working with players of all ages and levels in both individual and group sessions.
In the earlier stages of MacGeoch’s journey, he was an elite junior tennis player in Scotland, where he won an International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior singles and doubles title and also represented Scotland at the under-18 level.
His skill led to recruitment by Drake University, a NCAA division 1 programme in Iowa, USA, where he secured four Missouri Valley Conference championships.
Following his time at Drake, he completed a masters at the University of Glasgow while maintaining a domestic playing schedule in Scotland. This period also included travelling with professional Women’s Tennis Association player Maia Lumsden, who in 2023 reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon ladies doubles.
His experience expanded beyond the court as he went on to work for the Scottish tennis federation in digital media and marketing while also travelling with Scottish players, including Charlie Robertson who achieved a high ITF junior ranking of 8 in the world following a run to the US Open Juniors semi-finals.

MacGeoch returned to America to work with Florida State University men’s tennis as an assistant coach.
Under his guidance, four players achieved All-American status, with multiple singles players and doubles teams ranked inside the collegiate top 10 throughout the season.
“I am really excited to be here,” MacGeoch said. “I’ve been coming to Cayman for 10 years now, with my two sisters living on island, so I’m looking forward to calling Cayman home.
“I’m really keen to continue working with both junior players to help build and develop their tennis foundations and knowledge of the game, as well as adults looking to enhance their games and build their confidence,” he added.
MacGeoch will be primarily coaching at the Cayman International School and Camana Bay, but is also available for lessons at private courts across the island.
Warren Urquhart, the owner of Cayman Sports Ltd., says he is “delighted to have been able to bring a coach to the island who has such a high tennis pedigree”.
“We are very lucky to have Calum join the coaching team. His experience of both playing and coaching division 1 tennis in America provides our clients with a level of expertise that is not often found on island. This is a great opportunity for kids and adults to learn from the best,” Urquhart said.
