From the slower pace of Cayman to the bustling streets of London, Anjia Delapenha has been making waves across the pond.
The 20-year-old, who plays volleyball nationally for Cayman, has been recently named president of the City St. George’s, University of London volleyball 2025/26 committee and co-captain of the women’s team.
Delapenha began her journey at the university in September 2023, where she joined their indoor volleyball team in her first year, playing primarily as a middle hitter.
She says her responsibilities as president include overseeing club operations, organising training sessions and matches, and fostering a healthy environment for her teammates.
Delapenha added that her main goals for the season include strengthening collaboration with other London universities, maintaining her team’s newly earned division one position in South East England, and building a stronger team identity on and off the court.

“Taking on this role has been a meaningful accomplishment for me, as it reflects both my passion for the sport and the trust placed in me to lead and grow our community,” Delapenha said.
She added that the experience in London has exposed her to a higher level of competition, diverse playing styles, and professional structures.

“I hope to bring back [the experience I’ve gained in London] to Cayman to contribute to the growth of both beach and indoor volleyball,” Delapenha said.
Looking ahead, she plans to continue competing internationally for Cayman while also building a career in finance, law and entrepreneurship.
Delapenha, who is studying accounting and finance, said she hopes to create opportunities not just for herself, but also “paving the way for the next generation of Caymanians”.
