Caymanian professional boxer, Christopher Hurlston, 24, has scored another victory abroad, defeating German boxer Vincenzo Anzalone by technical knockout in the heavyweight professional division in Madrid, Spain.
The fight, which solidified Hurlston’s undefeated 4-0 record consisting of three knockouts, was part of the prestigious Casino Boxing Series held at the Gran Madrid Casino Torrelodones on 7 Nov.
Going into the fight against Anzalone, Hurlston said his core strategy was to “box smart” following some adjustments made during his training camp after a previous fight.

The 6-foot 7-inch heavyweight said his game plan centered on maintaining distance, using his range effectively and selecting his shots “without rushing or overreaching.”
“I executed as expected and got the [technical knockout] stoppage … with a clean body shot,” he said.
Hurlston admitted that he “wasn’t surprised” by the final moments of the fight but was “happy nonetheless for another victory abroad.”
“I was just confident in my training and was sure I’d get the job done based on how I performed in the gym and in sparring,” he explained.
He says his training regimen leading up to the fight was “hard” [as always] adding, “We always keep going in the gym even without a fight date in mind, so for me it was just business as usual.”
Hurlston acknowledged that the fight was a “good experience against a tough opponent who didn’t come to sit down”, however, he didn’t view the victory as “significant”.

“I’m still at the early stages of my professional career, so [the fight] wasn’t of great significance, but every fight is more experience and a step closer to titles and bigger fights,” he said.
Hurlston, who has been honing his craft for approximately five years, detailed his journey into the sport, saying, “I was always around the boxing gym in high school and eventually started training seriously once I graduated and moved to England for competition due to there not being much competition in amateur boxing on the island at the time.”
He continues to train in York, England where he has trained for almost three years as an amateur boxer. During his amateur career, he participated in 13 bouts, securing 10 victories with the three losses based on split decision.
Hurlston transitioned into the professional level earlier this year and has his focus set on his fifth professional fight which is yet to be announced.
