At just 17 years old, Jaxon Cover, a left-wing player for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League, is gaining significant traction as a top prospect for the June 2026 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
His ascent in the sport did not begin on the ice, but as a top roller hockey player. This early dominance was visible back in 2016, when he won the fastest skater and Most Valuable Player awards at the North American Roller Hockey Championships, even while playing in two different age divisions.

An Ontario Hockey League article by Breanna McNeill in October of this year stated that Cover was born and raised in Grand Cayman, “began attending skating camps in Toronto” at 10 years old and “by U14, he was fully immersed in ice hockey”. Explaining his start to the sport in the article, Cover said, “My dad is from Canada and wanted me to get into hockey.”
In 2024, Cover was selected by the London Knights in the fourth round of the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Although the 2025-2026 season marks Cover’s NHL Draft year, he remains grounded. In the article, he stated, “I’m just focused on playing my game and helping the team win,” and adding, “If I do that, I think the rest will take care of itself.”
