On Thursday, 8 May 2025, the Ministry of Youth and Sports hosted the Youth Recognition and Inspiration Ceremony under the theme “Greatness in Motion: Celebrating Grenada’s 2025 CARIFTA Champions.”
The event brought together national leaders, sports officials, and dignitaries to honour the outstanding achievements of our CARIFTA Track and Field athletes and swimmers.
In attendance were Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Delma Thomas, Cabinet Ministers, Government officials, and heads of key sporting bodies, including Conrad Francis, President, Grenada Athletics Association and Neil Francis, President, Grenada Amateur Swimming Association (GASA).
In his address, Prime Minister Mitchell recognised the tremendous work of the coaches, the dedication of GASA, and the unwavering support of parents. He called on the private sector to play an active role in supporting the holistic development of our athletes and encouraged the youth to “never doubt your capacity to turn your adversity into triumph and inspiration.”

Minister Thomas praised the team’s incredible performance, reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting their educational journey, and thanked IMA Grenada and the Diaspora Affairs Office for their contributions to the athletes’ awards.
Featured speaker Delon Felix, a former national athlete, urged the youth to stay disciplined, strive for greatness in all areas of life, and “leave a legacy by guiding someone where you can.”
A total of 13 medals were secured in Track and Field (2 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze) and 11 medals in Swimming (1 Gold, 7 Silver, 3 Bronze) at the CARIFTA 2025 Games. Special awards went to Tilly Collymore (Most Outstanding Female Athlete) and D’Angelo Browne (Most Outstanding Male Athlete).
