CELTIC are reportedly facing competition for the signing of free agent Kelechi Iheanacho.
The striker, who Brendan Rodgers worked with at Leicester City, was released by Sevilla on transfer deadline day after SunSport revealed Iheanacho was on the Hoops’ radar.
Celtic face a race against time to get a deal done for the Nigerian before the deadline to register Europa League players comes in at 11pm tonight.
They were unable to find a replacement for Adam Idah who left for Swansea on deadline day in a deal in excess of £6m.
Celtic have been stung already after they were gazumped by Ajax in their bid to lure Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg to the club.
Rodgers’ men were then left scrambling around in the final few hours of the window trying to find a replacement.

They approached Chelsea over forward David Datro Fofana who chose Charlton over a move to Scotland before seeing that move fall through.
Now according to reports in Turkey, Celtic could face other rivals coming into the mix for Iheanacho’s signature.
Samsun Gazetesi claim Samsunspor are looking to hijack the deal with attempts underway to entice the 28-year-old to the club.
According to Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira says Celtic are continuing talks and have offered Iheanacho a two-year contract, with the option of another year.

Meanwhile, Greek outlet Athlos news claim Celtic have reached a “verbal agreement” to sign Iheanacho, with Samsunspor in the race and are still hoping they can change his mind.
It’s also claimed there is interest from Saudi Arabia where the window is still open until September 23.
The Nigeria international has scored 15 goals in 55 appearances for the Super Eagles.
Iheanacho had been linked with Celtic in January, but turned down a move to Celtic Park to join English Championship side Middlesbrough on loan.
He failed to establish himself in the first team at Sevilla and played just 11 times, scoring three goals last season.
