CELTIC have had an initial approach booted out for one of their main summer targets, it’s being claimed.
Brendan Rodgers has made it clear he wants to freshen his squad in the upcoming window with several positions needing strengthened.
We told you earlier this month how Celtic had shown interest in Red Star Belgrade wonderkid Veljko Milosavljevic, with reports from Serbia claiming he’s high on the club’s shortlist.
The centre-back is just 17, but has already gained valuable first team experience and has caught the eyes of several European clubs, including the Scottish champions.
Now it’s being suggested that the Hoops have made their first contact with the Serbian giants over a potential deal for the towering teenager.
Serbian outlet Meridian Sport claim that an initial offer from Celtic has been turfed out, with Red Star standing firm on their demands.
The fee in which they offered has not been disclosed but it’s stated the Serbian champions have set an asking price of €10million (£8.4million).
It was previously believed Red Star would not entertain any offers for their prized asset.
Milosavljevic has made 15 appearances for the club’s first team and has yet to lose a single game in the Serbian top flight.
He spent the first half of the campaign on loan in the second tier with Graficar Beograd.
Paris Saint-Germain and Everton are also said to be considering a move after reportedly sending scouts to watch him in action.
Milosavljevic isn’t the only player Celtic could battle the French giants for this summer as reports from Japan also state the two clubs are in a three-way battle for Djurgarden left-back Keita Kosugi.
The 19-year-old has been attracting interest with his displays in Sweden and in Europe, with PSG, Celtic and Atalanta said to be circling.
Meanwhile, PAOK are reportedly in talks to sign Greg Taylor on a free transfer.
The Scotland left-back is out of contract this summer and is free to speak to other clubs.
And Greek outlet iNPAOK claim the Black and Whites have joined the race for his signature.
