CELTIC hero Artur Boruc was spotted wearing a Palestine top during today’s legends clash against Manchester United.
After the match as the stopper was applauding the fans who had showed up at the match he was snapped wearing a Palestine football jersey, showing support for the Palestinian cause.
Celtic fans have shown support for Palestine at most home and away games for quite some time now.
The Palestine flag is usually seen flying at most Celtic games, so Boruc’s show of support was well received by the crowds at Celtic Park.
Boruc, 45, once wore a ‘God Bless the Pope‘ t-shirt infront of the Parkhead faithful, with an image of Pope John Paul II underneath the text, after an Old Firm derby victory against rivals Rangers.
The keeper played a big part in his Hoops sides victory on Saturday as him and fellow keeper Joe Hart were in the thick of the action.
Celtic found themselves 2-0 down at half-time thanks to strikes from Man Utd legends Darren Fletcher and Dimitar Berbatov.
A flurry of changes at half-time pushed the match in Celtic’s favour.
With 70 minutes on the clock, Scott McDonald pulled one back for the hosts.
And with 15 left to play, Shaun Maloney levelled the tie.
When the Parkhead crowd realised it was going to penalties, they feared the worst based on their first-team’s most recent shootout.
But the old boys produced enough to emerge victorious as Lee Naylor scored the winning spot kick.
Boruc saved ex-Celtic and United defender Tyler Blackett’s penalty.
That save came moments after Joe Hart had blasted high and wide, making it two failed spot kicks in a Celtic jersey for the ex-England international.
Charlie Mulgrew, Scott McDonald and Simon Donnelly scored Celtic’s other three spot kicks.
Michael Carrick, Nani and Chris Eagles were the scorers for United, but Blackett and Darren Gibson failed to beat both Boruc and Hart respectively.
