OH HYEON-GYU hardly set the heather on fire during his 18 months as a Celtic player.
But, according to reports, the Korean striker is now on the cusp of a MASSIVE £24million transfer to the Bundesliga.
It was Ange Postecoglou who brought Oh to Celtic Park in January 2023 from Suwon in his homeland for a fee in the region of £2.5m.
The frontman signed a five-year contract at that time but saw little game time due to the form of Kyogo Furuhashi and then Adam Idah.
He played a total of 47 times across a season-and-a-half – mostly as a sub – and scored 12 goals.
There was little fuss made when he moved on to Genk in Belgium last summer, with Celtic thought to have recouped the fee they paid to sign Oh in the first place with a bit more on top.
The Korean international enjoyed a decent first season in the Jupiler League, scoring seven times in 27 appearances as Genk topped the regular season table.
That steady form has seemingly caught the attention of suitors across the border in Germany.
And now Bundesliga giants are Stuttgart are set to swoop with a major bid for the former Hoops man.
According to Euro transfer specialists Sacha Tavolieri and Bob Faesen, Oh is now on his way to Germany to complete a £24million deal and sign a five-year contract.
The size of the fee has shocked some Celtic fans – but there could be good news for the Parkhead club too.
It’s understood there was a sell-on clause inserted into the deal to sell Oh to Genk, meaning Celtic will be due a share of the mammoth fee that Stuttgart are about to shell out for the frontman’s services.
The Germans have been in the market for a striker after selling Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United last week.
And it seems they believe Oh is the man to lead the line for them as they look to reinvest some of the fee received for Woltemade.
The move could be dependent on Genk lining up a replacement for Oh with the transfer window set to close all around Europe tomorrow evening.
And it means the Korean WON’T be back in Glasgow for Genk’s Champions League opener away to Rangers.
