AS the saying goes, like father, like son…
If you’ve been watching the Champions League this week, there was no better example than that of the son of a Celtic hero.
His dad scored 242 goals for the Hoops and over the course of his career netted seven times in Europe‘s top club competition.
Now his boy has bagged his first strike in the tournament proper.
The man we are talking about is Jordan Larsson, son of Celts icon Henrik.
He hit the opener in Copenhagen’s 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, his first ever in the group stages of the Champions League (he had only previously scored in qualifiers).
His father of course won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006.
In the ninth minute of the match against Leverkusen, the younger Larsson was spotted by Elias Achouri and tucked away his cross with aplomb, tucking away a first time finish with his left foot on the half-volley.
It wasn’t lost on those watching on via social media that the goal resembled some of Larsson Snr’s strikes.
One fan said: “Like father… That deft touch, and instinctive finish. It’s surely a hereditary trait. Great goal, Jordan!”
Another said: “His dad taught him well!”
Other supporters pointed to the famous name and how Larsson Jnr was doing it proud.
One said: “Keeping the Larsson legacy alive!”
Another commented: “Jordan Larsson carrying on the family legacy.”
And referring to his Hoops nickname, this fan said: “Son of the king of kings.”
