CROCKED Celtic star Tony Ralston is poised to pull out of the Scotland squad – putting starlet Colby Donovan on standby for a stunning first team chance.
SunSport believes the right-back went into Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Rangers at Ibrox still feeling the effects of an ankle knock suffered in the Champions League play-off against Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan.
With Alistair Johnston already sidelined with a hamstring tear, stalwart Ralston stepped up for boss Brendan Rodgers and played the full 90 minutes.
However, the 26-year-old now needs a period of rest.
That makes him a doubt for at least the next Premiership game at Kilmarnock on September 14.
Celtic also have away games following against Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup last eight plus their opening Europa League league phase tie against FK Crvena Zvezda.
Should Ralston be missing, Celtic would be left with only youngster Donovan, 18, as a natural right-back in the squad.
He is, however, highly thought of and featured as a sub against Livingston and in the away leg against Kairat.
Scotland, meanwhile, are well off for cover with Aaron Hickey and Max Johnston also in the squad for the opening World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Belarus.
