IT was a moment that seemed to sum up Celtic’s transfer window.
First Danish target Kasper Dolberg opted for a return to Ajax from Anderlecht after the Hoops pursued a deal.
Then they switched focus to Chelsea frontman David Datro Fofana, but he chose a loan switch to Championship side Charlton so he could stay in London.
Losing out on a target to Charlton was bad enough – before it emerged that all the requisite paperwork HADN’T been completed in time and Datro Fofana was STAYING at Stamford Bridge.
With the English deadline earlier than Scotland‘s at 7pm, you might have thought that would give Celtic extra time to get a Datro Fofana deal done but that wasn’t the case.
The Parkhead side let Adam Idah quit for Swansea in a £6m move but are still battling to secure his long-term replacement.

They are keen on longtime striking target Kelechi Iheanacho – who is available for FREE outside the window after being released by Sevilla last night.
It all leaves Datro Fofana in limbo – with four years remaining on his current deal at Chelsea.
Since his £10million move to Chelsea from Molde in 2023, the striker has only made four senior appearances for the Blues, racking up just 113 minutes of football.
The 22-year-old isn’t part of Enzo Maresca’s long term plans and it remains to be seen if he can be moved on elsewhere this summer ti a country where the transfer deadline remains open.
Sebastian Tounekti, meanwhile, has vowed to provide the cutting edge Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers so desperately wants.
The Hoops splashed £5 million-plus on former Hammarby winger Tounekti right at the end of the transfer deadline.
And the Tunisia international – born and raised in Norway – is determined to show precisely why they were on his trail for a long time.
Tounekti, who signed a five year deal, told Celtic TV: “I’m a typical dribbler, I like to attack.
I don’t like to pass back when there’s a chance to attack.
“If it’s one or two players, I like to take on players and try to make something happen.”
