Celtic vs St Mirren preview
It was the final fixture of their league campaigns last season and the first this time around.
Celtic host a St Mirren side who were shaky at the beginning of the Premier Sports Cup group stages before finishing with a flourish.
Saints don’t have European qualifiers to contend with at the start of this season and are tipped once again to be in and around the top six battle come the end of the season.
They very nearly spoilt the trophy party at the end of the last season on the final day, when James Forrest scored in injury time to earn Celtic a final point of the season.
Now they’re looking to do the same again on Flag Day.
Celtic’s only competitive game since then came a week later when they lost the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen.
There has been discontentment amongst the Hoops support at an apparent lack of transfer business with another Champions League campaign on the horizon.
Shin Yamada, Benjamin Nygren, Hayato Inamura, Ross Doohan and the return of Kieran Tierney on a free transfer has so far underwhelmed the supporters.
And it remains to be seen if that lack of money spent could come back and bite them, should Rangers mount a challenge under their new ownership and management.
Pre-season has been mixed, with an impressive 4-0 win over Newcastle here being backed up by a 5-1 thumping by Ajax less than a week later.

Transfer speculation regarding Daizen Maeda is likely to continue throughout the summer, given the impact he made last season.
Particularly after Kyogo left when allowed to be played down the middle. The loss of Nicolas Kuhn coupled with Jota’s injury makes is likely he’ll be played out wide again.
That despite him reportedly asking to be played as a number nine. Irrespective of that, he remains further down the goalscorer betting, just as he was last year. Can pick up where left off.
