KINGSTON, Jamaica—Kingston College’s Odane Noble won the first gold medal of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the national stadium, leaping to 7.18m (0.5m/s) in the Class 2 boys long jump event on Wednesday’s second day.
Noble had three jumps over 7.00m, including 7.07m and 7.09m from his four legal marks.
Calabar High’s Talshawn Edwards was second with 7.02m (1.7m/s), followed by St Jago High’s Winaldo Faulknor, who jumped 6.79m (1.5m/s), the same distance as Cornwall College’s Zhi-Hew Whitter, who was fourth.
Faulknor took the bronze medal on a tie-breaker; his second-best jump of 6.77m (0.8m/s) was better than Whitter’s 6.72m (0.6m/s) from the first round.
