CRAIG GORDON made his comeback today from a neck injury in a 3-1 closed doors win over Dunfermline for a strong Hearts side at the Oriam.
SunSport understands the 42-year-old – out since May 3 – came through the second half of the game.
It was a strong Jambos side which also featured the likes of fellow comeback man Jamie McCart, weekend goal hero Alexandros Kyziridis and striker Elton Kabangu.
Gordon missed out on the Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying double header against Denmark and Belarus.
But his return to action will still please Scots boss Steve Clarke.
New German signing Alexander Schwolow, 33, played the first half just a few days after completing a free transfer switch from Union Berlin on a two year deal.
Fromer Germany youth Schwolow – who has also played for Freiburg, Arminia Bielefeld, Hertha Berlin and Schalke – has been brought in as an immediate first team contender, with Hearts’ first game after the international break against Rangers at Ibrox on September 13.
Current No1 Zander Clark is in the national team squad.
Meanwhile, Neil Lennon looked on as he fielded the side which drew 2-2 with Ross County in the Championship at the weekend.
New signing Zak Rudden netted.
Lennon was Gordon’s Celtic manager for a brief period during his second spell in charge of the Hoops.
Hearts went into the international break joint-top of the Premiership table alongside Celtic.
Derek McInnes’ men have taken 10 points from a possible 12 and remain unbeaten in the league so far.
They sit second to defending champions Celtic only on goal difference.
Meanwhile, McInnes’ former assistant Tony Docherty is back in management.
The former Dundee boss has taken over at Ross County.
Docherty was McInnes’ No2 at Aberdeen and Kilmarnock prior to taking over at Dens Park.
He was axed by Dundee at the end of last season despite securing safety.
