CUP double-winner Callum Davidson is the new assistant manager at Ross County.
Davidson, who led St Johnstone to the historic Scottish and League Cup triumphs of 2020/21, has been out of frontline football since his sacking by Queen’s Park in March.
County’s new manager Tony Docherty identified the 19 times capped former former Scotland left-back as the experienced right-hand man he needs by his side at the promotion-chasing Championship club.
Don Cowie’s previous assistant manager John Robertson will remain part of the first team coaching set-up.
Cowie departed as boss in August after a horror start to the season.
Docherty said: “I’m delighted to bring Callum to the football club.
“Callum brings valuable knowledge and experience from a successful playing and management career and will be a hugely important member of the back-room staff.
“We share similar values and ideas relating to the game, and having worked together previously, I’m sure he will have an extremely positive impact and input to the group here.”
Davidson had three years in the McDiarmid Park hotseat – his first managerial role – until his sacking in April 2023.
The double winning feat, in his first season in charge, was one of Scottish football’s most remarkable achievements in recent times.
The Saints defeated Livingston in the League Cup Final and Hibs in the Scottish Cup Final just a few months later.
A narrow escape from relegation the following season was followed by Davidson’s sacking after further troubles in season 2022/23.
He returned to management with Queen’s Park in January 2024 and spent 14 months in the role.
Davidson oversaw the Spiders’ remarkable 1-0 Scottish Cup win over at Rangers in February this year, a result widely regarded as one of the competition’s biggest shocks of all time.
But just five weeks later, he was dismissed from the role following a 4-0 defeat to Falkirk in the Championship.
As a player, his distinguished career brought over 400 competitive appearances and brought a £1.75m move from Saints to Blackburn Rovers in 1998 and a £2.75m move to Leicester City two years later.
He spent 11 years as a Scotland player between 1998 and 2009.
