Cutting Edge Academy were crowned winners in the Boys’ Under-13 and Girls’ Under-17 divisions of the Antigua Cup International Youth Football Tournament following crucial victories at the Buckley’s Primary School playing field.
In what was a close encounter in the Boys’ Under-13 fixture, Cutting Edge had the better of Lion Cubs by a 2-1 margin thanks to goals from K Lawrence and Ethan Cordice. Kalvin Williams scored the lone goal for Lion Cubs.
However, triumph in the Girls’ Under-17 division was much easier for the Vincent “Nabu” Samuel coached Cutting Edge Academy as they defeated Young Warriors 8-2 to lift the trophy.
The winners were led by national striker, Irreissa Allen with a hattrick, while Kavita Cordice recorded a double strike. There were single conversions from Karima Toulon, Abisha Henry and Arika Henry to round off the scoring for Cutting Edge. Davilyn Joseph scored both goals for Young Warriors.
Meanwhile, Attackers enjoyed an eight-nil (8-0) victory over Young Warriors in the Boys’ Under-15 division.
Chevon Porter and Kamari Brodie both struck twice in the match with single conversions from Reshid Chapman, Elijah Harriet, Jahrel James and goalkeeper, Kaheim Hastings.
