With three races left, the anticipation is building to find out which Cayman cyclists will be crowned champions in the annual 2025 May Classics.
This exciting and intense cycling showdown, presented by Catalyst, launched with an opening race, the West Bay Circuit, on 11 May. This first race was the most technical of the four, requiring the cyclists to showcase their speed and corner-turning ability on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway through the old West Bay Road.
The riders were challenged with completing eight laps on the 3.1-mile-per-lap circuit. After laps 2, 4, 6 and 8, additional points could be earned on the sprint designation for the Green Jersey competition.
This competition rewards the rider within each category who generates the most sprint points by the end of the Classics, earning the title of Sprint Champion.
Throughout the entire event, competing racers will push their limits in hopes of securing the winning titles in various categories: Category 1-4, Masters (40-49), Super Masters (50+), Elite Women and Juniors (under 18).
