CYRIEL DESSERS has officially called it a day at Rangers to secure a move to Greece.
The Nigerian striker has penned a lucrative move to Panathinaikos after spending two years at Ibrox, finishing last season’s campaign as the Light Blues’ top goal-scorer.
SunSport understands Rangers have recuperated most of what they paid for Dessers with the deal around £4.5m.
Rangers posted on X: “We can today confirm the departure of Cyriel Dessers to Panathinaikos for an undisclosed fee.
“Everyone at the club thanks @CyrielDessers for his contribution during his time in Glasgow, and we wish him well for the future.”
Dessers, 30, didn’t manage to win over the majority of Rangers fans despite his impressive goal tally across the two-year spell.

He netted 52 goals in 116 appearances for the Light Blues, but it was the chances that he missed that grabbed the attention of large sections of the support.
He became a divisive figure at Ibrox and was the subject of abuse from fans on a number of occasions, with former manager Philippe Clement and team-mates Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe jumping to his defence amid the ‘unwarranted’ criticism.
Dessers refused to let the outside noise get to him and still regularly expressed his admiration for the supporters in the stands even with all the outcry.
Now he’s waved goodbye to the fanbase for the final time.
Rangers and AEK Athens were locked in talks over a deal for the striker for a number of weeks, but Panathinaikos have won the race for his signature.
He still had two years left on contract after penning a four-year deal when he arrived from Cremonese.
Russell Martin revealed he had played his last game for Rangers in a drab 0-0 derby draw with Celtic.
And at the end of the game he could be seen waving to the fans, something many took as a clear gesture that he was on his way out of Ibrox for good.
Russell Martin has gone in a different direction in attack and has cashed in on Dessers while he still could.
Hamza Igamane is also away after his stunt in Paisley. He struck twice on his debut for Lille after his £10.4m move to the Ligue 1 side.
Martin’s brought in former Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski from Girona.
They’ve also signed Youssef Chermiti in a £8m deal from Everton.
