RANGERS never really looked in any danger of pulling off a Europa League upset tonight.
Serie A side Roma ran out 2-0 winners at Ibrox to leave the hosts wallowing at the bottom of the table, still with zero points.
Matias Soule and Lorenzo Pellegrini both netted in the first half to have the game sewn up early, while the home fans continued to show their unhappiness at the current running of the club.
James Tavernier made his 61st EL appearance for the Gers, taking him joint first in appearances for a single team in the competition with RB Salzburg’s Andreas Ulmer.
But it certainly wasn’t one to remember for the captain compared to some results across his ten years.
Here’s how our man Andy Devlin rated the Rangers players on a poor night:

Jack Butland – 5
No chance with either of the Roma goals and kept his side in it with two or three big saves. You do wonder where Rangers would be without their No.1. He’s been their best player this season.
James Tavernier – 5
Has known some incredible European nights at Ibrox in his ten years at Rangers. But this Gers side are a shadow of those teams that stunned Dortmund and Leipzig.
John Souttar – 4
Completely undone by Artem Dovbyk for Roma’s second of the night. The Rangers centre half just lost sight of his man who rolled it across goal for Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Nasser Djiga – 4
Careless in possession. Lacking in awareness as Roma stormed in front, losing Matias Soule at the back post. Another summer signing that’s nowhere near good enough.

Max Aarons – 5
The full-back was handed his first start in Europe since his red card against Club Brugge. Switched to left-back after the break and looked really assured, especially going forward.
Connor Barron – 5
Recalled after suspension ruled him out of Sunday’s Old Firm semi-final. Covered plenty of ground, but in truth he was overrun in the middle of the park. Kept working.
Nico Raskin – 4
Miles off it. Was MIA against Celtic at Hampden on Sunday and this was another no-show against Roma. Sulked as he was subbed off, but he could have no complaints.
Jayden Meghoma – 3
Really poor for opening goal. Caught trying to play his way out of trouble, gifting Roma the corner from which they took the lead. No surprise to see him hooked at half-time.
Djeidi Gassama – 5
Got into some decent attacking areas, but his final ball let him down. His pace and direct running caused Roma problems so it was still a surprise to see him replaced so soon.
Mikey Moore – 6
Probably Rangers’ brightest spark. The on-loan Spurs midfielder was denied by a brilliant last-ditch block by Gianluca Mancini as he tried to haul his side back into this Euro tie.
Youssef Chermiti – 2
Dragged an early chance wide of the mark. Fired another into the side netting. It beggars belief Rangers shelled out £8million on a striker that struggles to do the basics.
Subs: Thelo Aasgaard (3) Introduced at half-time as Rangers tried to salvage something in the second half. Dragged a decent effort inches past Mile Svilar’s post. Danilo (2) Didn’t get a sight of goal. Mohamed Diomande (2) Asked to bring some energy to the middle of the park. Bojan Miovski (2) Was only on the park 30 seconds when he almost got himself on the end of a Tavernier cross. Findlay Curtis (2) Got the last ten minutes after replacing Moore.
