DARREN FLETCHER has gone back to his old job following his brief stint as interim Manchester United manager.
The Scot took temporary charge of the Red Devils following Ruben Amorim‘s shock sacking earlier this month.
Fletcher’s reign as interim manager didn’t last long, though, as he’s been replaced at the helm by former team-mate Michael Carrick.
The 41-year-old was in charge of United’s Under-18s before he took over the first team.
And according to The BBC, he’s set to return to the role.
Fletcher failed to guide United to victory during brief stint as interim boss.

He oversaw a 2-2 draw with Burnley last Wednesday, in which Benjamin Sesko scored a brace.
His final game in charge was last Sunday’s FA Cup third-round exit at the hands of Brighton.
Carrick has been installed as United’s second interim manager of the campaign until the end of the season.
The former Red Devils midfielder pipped his old team-mate and ex-United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the gig.

Carrick began his coaching career following his retirement in 2018, joining Jose Mourinho’s staff alongside current Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna.
He was the club’s caretaker manager after the sacking of Mourinho in December 2018 and Solskjaer’s departure in November 2021.
Carrick stepped down from his role as first-team coach in December 2021 and began his management journey in October 2022 when he took charge of Middlesbrough.
He spent three seasons at the Riverside Stadium and guided Boro to fourth, eighth and tenth-placed finishes in the Championship.
The former England international was relieved of his duties at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Carrick’s first assignment for his latest temporary stint in charge of United will be a Manchester derby against title-chasing City on Saturday.
