The Dart under-13 high school football leagues are returning for their eighth season with teams across Grand Cayman vying for the Dart Cup and island bragging rights.
The leagues will kick off with a full schedule of games, beginning on 17 Sept. for the girls’ teams and 18 Sept. for the boys’ teams.
Last year’s champions in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions, Cayman Prep and High School, will look to defend their titles.
Undefeated over the season, the Cayman Prep girls’ team secured the league championship with a 5-0 win over runners-up Cayman International School, while John Gray High School clinched third place.
Similarly, the Cayman Prep boys’ team went undefeated, earning the Champions’ Cup after a narrow 2-1 victory against the international school’s A squad.

Additionally, the John Gray High School boys secured third place after defeating Clifton Hunter High School 6-5 in a penalty shootout.
St. Ignatius Catholic School took home the Dart under-13 boys’ Consolation Cup by beating newcomers Footsteps School 3-0.
This year, organisers plan to introduce the Champions Cup and Consolation Cup for the girls’ league, a format that was successfully implemented for the boys last year to give teams more games to play, a Cayman Youth Football Leagues press release said. This system is used within the CUC Primary Football League and Girls’ Primary Football League.
The Dart Under-13 leagues will run every Wednesday and Thursday until the mid-term break in October.
Game start times are between 3:30pm and 4pm at football fields across the island including the Annex, Cayman Islands Football Association field, Haig Bodden Sports Complex, Camana Bay Sports Complex, St. Ignatius Catholic School, Academy, Clifton Hunter High School and the new John Gray High School sports facility.
The schools participating in the leagues are John Gray High School, Clifton Hunter High School, Triple C, St. Ignatius Catholic School, Footsteps School, Cayman Prep and High School, Cayman Academy, Cayman International School and a new team, Clever Fish High School.
