Antigua and Barbuda’s Naeem De Souza registered a new personal best of 26.52 in the Men’s 50 Meters Butterfly at the ongoing World Swimming Championships being held in Singapore as he finished sixth in his heat at the Singapore Sports Hub.
Despite his mammoth effort, the PB did not qualify De Souza for the next round of the competition.
Last week, the Antigua and Barbuda Swimming Federation named a four-member team for the July 24th to August 1st championships.
The team is headlined by 2018 Sportsman of the Year, Stefano Mitchell, who will compete in both the 50 meters and 100 meters freestyle events at the Singapore Sports Hub.
De Souza, apart from swimming in the 50 Meters event, will also compete in the 100 Meters Butterfly. Two of the country’s top women competitors in Aunjelique Liddie and Bianca Mitchell round off the selection.
