CELTIC fans have continued to vent their anger at the club’s transfer business after the window shut.
The only deadline day signing they made was Tunisia winger Sebastian Tounekti in a £5.2million move from Hammarby.
But it was too little too late for many, with the Hoops failure to find a replacement striker for Adam Idah, who left for Swansea City, compounding their fury.
They missed out on Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg after Ajax hijacked the bid.
They are still chasing targets with free agents Kelechi Iheanacho and Patrick Bamford in the frame.
But they face a race against time to get deals done ahead of the deadline to register their squad for the Europa League at 11pm tonight.
Brendan Rodgers made his feelings clear about looking to bolster his options in the final third in recent weeks. saying he wasn’t a manager here to simply maintain standards.
Many Hoops fans have pointed the finger at the board, including largest shareholder Dermot Desmond after failing to strengthen the side before their Champions League elimination to Kairat Almaty.
And fans were desperate to air their views on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard’s phone in on Tuesday night after the window shut on Monday.
One fan called in and said: “The window’s been an absolute shambles.
“They’ve had all these players leave and they haven’t been replaced.
“We’re going into the European stage after the international break with no recognised striker.
“What happens if Maeda gets injured, what are we actually going to do?
“There’s no coming back from this.”
Another fan added: “The disaster which Celtic find themselves in at the moment is due to Dermot Desmond.
“We’re going to lose our manager and we’ll probably end up with some mediocre person.
“So Dermot either sell your shares or clear out the dead wood from top to bottom.
“I think the manager will have made his mind up already.”
A third person called in and said: “An absolute shambles by Celtic.
“Everybody knows they’re sitting on millions of pounds and don’t want to spend it.
“Celtic are very weak – I think Hearts and Hibs both have a genuine chance of winning that league.”
But one fan appeared to far more optimistic, he said: “I’m not worried at all, I’m listening to guys like you on the radio, fellow Celtic fans – ‘oh look at the state of us, what’s up’.
“This is the same board that’s carried this club through all these successful years.
“They’re shouting the night about transfer activity- we’re six points clear and unbeaten.
“I’m looking at a club across the water who’re calling for the manager’s head.
“If they can’t beat us at their own park in front of 50,000 fans with us playing backdoor stuff then I’m happy at that.
