Jaden Eccleston, the boxing pride of both Cayman and Jamaica, is locked and loaded for his second professional fight after his successful debut in November.
Eccleston, 26, nicknamed ‘Mad Slug’, is scheduled to enter the ring on 22 Feb. at the ‘Futures: A Gloves Over Guns Initiative’ fight night at the Stanley Couch Gym in Jamaica.
He will face off against Jamaican Kevonna Willis in a bout that Eccleston’s longtime coach Floyd Trumpet said is a must win.
Trumpet told the Compass that his boxer has been training tirelessly to ensure that he puts on the performance that is expected of him.
“We have a tactical plan and our sparring came out perfectly over the past two weeks, so we are expecting good things. Of course, we are going for the win,” Trumpet said. “This fight is just a fight to help build our record quickly.”

Trumpet is confident in his athlete’s abilities, noting that he has plans for Eccleston to win a championship in the last quarter of 2025, but adding that they are still focused on the task immediately in front of them.
“We are not taking anyone for granted, so we are prepared,” Trumpet said.
“Like I always tell Jaden, whether we are fighting a bum, or a world champion, we are going to prepare like we’re fighting a champion.”
