FORMER Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou looks set to make a stunning return to management.
And he could be in place before THIS coming weekend.
Postecoglou, 60, enjoyed a highly successful two years in charge of Celtic between 2021 and 2023.
A virtual unknown to many prior to his appointment, he helped the Hoops regain the Scottish Premiership title from Rangers in his first season in charge.
He won a double that season, going one better the following campaign with a domestic treble.
Postecoglou’s winning mentality and style of play attracted suitors and he quit Parkhead in June 2023.
Just days after leading Celtic to the Scottish Cup and completing that treble, he headed for the English Premier League with Tottenham on a four-year deal.
A 5th placed league finish came in Postecoglou’s first season but last season was riddled with inconsistency.
On the domestic front, Spurs endured a nightmare with a horror 17th place finish in the Premier League.
It was the club’s worst ever placing in the competition.
However, on the continent, Postecoglou’s side flourished and he led them to the Europa League title.
A 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao saw the Australian boss follow through on a promise to win a trophy in his second season and secure Spurs their first piece of silverware for 17 years.
It also brought qualification for the Champions League.
That stunning triumph wasn’t enough for Postecoglou to keep his job, however, and he was dismissed in June – just two weeks after winning the Europa League.
The poor league form was cited as a reason for his dismissal.
But just two months later, Postecoglou looks set to return to football.
And his comeback will see him get another crack at the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest brutally sacked Nuno Espirito Santo late last night.
According to The Telegraph, Postecoglou will be confirmed the club’s new manager later TODAY.
It’s being reported he will sign an 18-month contract at the City Ground.
Postecoglou quickly emerged as maverick Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ first choice to replace Nuno.
