A pre-season friendly involving an ex-Celtic player descended into chaos as a brawl erupted between Real Betis and Como.
The two sides are gearing up for the start of the new season and showed no lack of fighting spirit as kicks and punches were thrown during than ill-tempered clash in Cadiz.
Footage online appeared to show anger spilling over after a few tasty challenges, before both teams came to blows just before half-time with Como leading 2-0.
Como centre-back Edoardo Goldaniga caught Giovani Lo Celso in the face with what appeared to be his elbow, while former Real Madrid star Isco was also left on the deck after a challenge from behind.
Betis goalkeeper Alberto Valles tries to restart play quickly, but was prevented from doing so by a Como player then all hell breaks loose.
Former West Ham star Pablo Fornals, now at Betis, seemed to be at the centre of things as he and Como’s Patrick Cutrone squared up before Fornals appeared to throw a punch at him.
That triggered the melee as more and more players ran to get involved, with skirmishes breaking out near the half-way line.
In amongst the chaotic scenes former Arsenal player Hector Bellerin is pictured taking a boot to the back of the head from ex-Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno.
It almost became slapstick at times as Betis’ Cucho Hernandez came flying in to land a punch and instead catches his own team-mate Natan.
After the dust-up referee Palomares Gutierrez sent off two players – Maximo Perrone and Bellerin – before another scuffle broke out near the tunnel.
In a rare move Bellerin’s red card was reversed before the end of the first half and instead it was given to Fornals.
Alex Valle, who spent six months at Celtic whilst on loan from Barcelona, wasn’t in the starting XI when the melee broke out, but came on as a second-half substitute for Cesc Fabregas’ men.
Wearing a yellow bib, and dyed blonde hair he can be seen on the pitch with other players, keeping his distance from where the trouble is flaring.
Nicolas Kuhn, who moved to Como from Celtic in a £17million move this summer, wasn’t amongst the subs used in the 3-2 win and didn’t appear to be involved in any of the footage showing the brawl.
Como took a two-goal lead through former Betis player Assane Diao and stunning strike from Lucas Da Cunha before the fighting ensued before the break.
Betis came from two behind to level through an Isco penalty and Junior Firpo in the second half but Como’s Ivan Azon found a winner with a curling effort from a tight angle to win 3-2 in stoppage time.
