FORMER Celtic star Massimo Donati says he’d love to manage in Scotland one day.
The 44-year-old is currently looking for a new job after being sacked by Serie B side Sampdoria last month after just a few months in the role.
The fallen Italian giants had one league win in eight before Donati, who had a loan spell with them in his playing career, was relieved of his duties.
He is over from Italy this weekend for this year’s Scottish Italian Awards in Glasgow on Sunday and is supporting Belle Vitta’s co-owner Mimmo Rossi.
And is due to take in Kilmarnock‘s Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee United on Saturday.
After hanging up his boots Donati moved into coaching and was assistant at Killie to Angelo Alessio in 2019.

He said: “One day, I don’t know if it’s soon or not soon.
“I love Scotland, I had good memories here and a good time.
“My family loves Scotland loves Glasgow.
“One day I want to come back, I don’t know if it is coming next week or in the next year.
“I’m in Italy now. I came over because it’s the Italian awards tomorrow night and they have invited me for this to support Mimmo as well. I hope he can win.
“I will go to watch Kilmarnock today where I started my coaching career.”
Donati was signed by Celtic under Gordon Strachan in 2007.
He joined from AC Milan and spent two seasons at the club, winning the SPL title in 2008.
The Italian is most fondly remembered for his last gasp goal for the Hoops against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, which put them on course for the last 16.
Donati ended up falling out of favour at Celtic and returned to Italy with Bari in 2009.
Spells at Palermo, Verona and another stint at Bari followed before he was back in Scottish football towards the end of his playing career with Hamilton Accies and St Mirren.
