RUSSELL MARTIN is reportedly among the contenders to take over as manager of an EFL club – just five weeks after being sacked by Rangers.
The 39-year-old was dismissed by Rangers on October 6 after only 123 days in charge, following a disastrous start to his tenure in Govan.

His spell at the club was the shortest for any permanent manager in Rangers’ history, with just one win from seven Premiership fixtures.
Despite his difficult stint in Glasgow, Martin is still being considered for top managerial roles in England.
The former Scotland defender had a brief playing career at Rangers before moving into management over the summer.
Now the former Southampton, MK Dons and Swansea City boss could return to another club he once played for.

According to Sky Sports, Martin is one of the frontrunners for the vacant Norwich City job.
The Canaries parted ways with Liam Manning after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, leaving them second-bottom in the Championship after 15 games.
Norwich are reportedly considering Martin given his long-standing connection with the club.
He spent eight years at Carrow Road as a player between 2010 and 2018 and was named club captain in 2013.
Following his captaincy, Martin expressed his ambition to move into management, saying in an interview: “I would eventually love to come and manage Norwich.”
Now, that goal could be within reach, as it’s suggested he is one of two top candidates for the role.
The other is his former Norwich teammate, Gary O’Neill.
The Canaries are believed to be preparing to open discussions with both Martin and O’Neill.
Ben Knapper, the club’s sporting director, is leading the search as Norwich look to appoint their new manager.
