Steven Gerrard is being considered for a top managerial role in England just weeks after turning down the chance to return to Rangers.
The former Rangers boss was expected to make an emotional comeback at Ibrox to succeed Russell Martin last month.

However, after flying in from Bahrain for talks with the club, Gerrard pulled out, citing that the timing wasn’t right.
The unexpected development left Rangers scrambling, eventually leading to the appointment of Danny Rohl after negotiations with Kevin Muscat broke down too.
Gerrard, however, has not ruled out a potential return to the club in the future.
For now, though, the 45-year-old is exploring other managerial opportunities as he looks to end a 10-month break from football.

Gerrard has been without a club since leaving Saudi side Al-Ettifaq in January after an 18-month spell in the Middle East.
During his time away, he focused on family life and became a grandfather for the first time in July, while also working in the media as a pundit.
But Gerrard’s return to management could come sooner rather than later, as he is reportedly on a three-man shortlist for the managerial position at English Championship side Middlesbrough.
SunSport understands he is being considered to replace Rob Edwards.
The Liverpool legend is an early name being touted along with ex-Bournemouth and Wolves boss Gary O’Neil and Valencia’s Carlos Coberan.
Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson and senior officials are taking their time to ensure they appoint the right manager to lead the club’s promotion ambitions, though.
Gibson reportedly held discussions with head of football Kieran Scott and other senior figures over the weekend to draw up a contingency plan.
The club remains frustrated after reluctantly allowing Wolves to speak with Edwards, who only took charge at the Riverside in July.
Edwards has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal to return to Molineux, where he previously spent four years as a player and later coached their U23s.
Wolves are set to pay Middlesbrough £3million in compensation, with former Rangers coach Harry Watling, who worked under Michael Beale at Ibrox, expected to follow Edwards as his assistant.
Gerrard has not managed in England since being sacked by Aston Villa in October 2022, with Unai Emery taking over.
However, he remains high on Middlesbrough’s shortlist to replace Edwards once the move to Wolves is finalised.
